Krug

Domaine Krug: a daring champagne, born of daring

Krug is a fairly old Champagne house, dating back to 1843. More than 170 years and six generations later, this Champagne house is now a model of its terroir. It was Johann-Joseph Krug who left a famous Champagne winemaker to pursue his own vision of the world. In fact, the Krugs are among the producers of the most prestigious cuvées in the world. Krug wines boast a hundred or so tastings, as well as almost 150 reserve wines, some of which are over twenty years old.

Spread over some 250 parcels, the grape varieties include 3 varieties: pinot meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay. The house produces not only whites, but also a Krug (Krug Rosé, quite simply). The wine is matured in small oak barrels and requires perfect cellaring skills. On the palate, Krug Grande Cuvée is simply inimitable. This is the cuvée for 20-year-olds, the one where the critics are unanimous. Then there are other examples, such as Clos du Mesnil, which is produced from 1.84 hectares, or Vintage, which is much younger.
