Henri Bonneau Estate

Henri Bonneau: rare wines

Henri Bonneau is a legend in the world of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Although he passed away in 2016, he left behind a considerable legacy in terms of wine. The Henri Bonneau estate covers just 6 hectares, but the man was a genius, with no financial logic whatsoever. The annual production of Henri Bonneau wines is in the region of 25,000 bottles. So they are relatively hard to find. That said, prices can remain affordable: depending on the vintage and appellation, bottles of Château Henri Bonneau sell for between €70 and €1,000.

The estate produces mainly reds, mainly Grenache (between 75% and 85%), as well as Cinsault, Counoise and Mourdrève. Henri Bonneau himself says that he has no real technique for producing these Rhône Valley wines. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats, using indigenous yeasts. The estate's best-known vintages are Cuvée Réserve des Célestins, Cuvée Marie Beurrier, Cuvée Marie and Clos de Tart. Some of these vintages, such as Pape Marie Beurrier and Roc des Anges, are particularly sought-after by Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine lovers.
