Château Lafite Rothschild: the top 5 most prestigious wines in Bordeaux

With its 178 hectares (including 103 hectares of vines), Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the most emblematic estates in the Médoc. A Lafite Rothschild wine is synonymous with quality. In fact, the estate is classified as a "Premier Grand Cru" in the 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines. Taking its name from the local family, Lafite, the estate is located a stone's throw from the commune of Pauillac , on a limestone hillside.

The wines, for their part, have already established historic sales records, particularly at the beginning of the last century. Lafite-Rothschild sold at record prices in 1900 and 1926, for example. 1921 and 1945 are also legendary vintages. But even today, the wines still attract the interest of oenologists: the 2000 and 2005 vintages are clear proof of this. What's more, the price of Lafite Rothschild wines is one of the highest in Bordeaux. The famous expert Robert Parker has awarded Lafite Rothschild a score of 100/100 on 4 occasions: in 1986, 1996, 2003 and 2010.
