Jacquesson
Jacquesson champagne is located in the Marne department, in the commune of Dizy to be precise. Although the Jacquesson estate has existed since the end of the eighteenth century, it was only 25 years ago, when the Chiquet brothers took over the estate, that the recipe that has made this terroir famous was established: a traditionalist vision based in particular on respect for the soil and parcel-based vinification. It is not unusual for Jacquesson to sell all or part of its pressings when it is not satisfied with the results. However, behind this traditional face, Champagne Jacquesson is renowned for its innovative range of cuvées 700. The principle is to blend two-thirds of the wine from a particular vintage.
This gives these Jacquesson white wines exemplary ageing potential. All the wines are vinified in oak tuns, with the aim of letting the wine breathe. Eventually, Jacquesson's 40 hectares will produce around 275,000 bottles a year. And this same terroir can boast of being located between three great estates, once again contributing to its reputation (Aÿ, Dizy and Hautvillers). The slopes here face east, south and south-west and the soil is exceptionally chalky.
