Ruinart

Domaine Ruinart: an ancestral know-how

In Champagne, some vineyards stand out for their fame. Others stand out for the size of their vineyards. Ruinart, on the other hand, stands out for its age: it is the oldest Champagne producer in the region, and the first of its kind. Founded in 1729, this vineyard, mainly (but not only) made up of Chardonnay, now has 17 hectares of vines. A modest vineyard, then, but one whose quality is beyond question. And while the parent company is based in Reims, it is in the village of Epernay, one of the greatest names in Champagne, that Ruinart wines are blended.
Although only one grape variety is used here, we are talking about blends. The Blanc de Blancs, for example, is a blend of different years, with a very large majority of Premiers Crus. It's a champagne full of flavour, with some vintages present to add roundness to the whole. It's also hard to forget Ruinart's R, an example of a blend with a little pinot noir and meunier. It's a complex, fruity wine with hints of brioche. Finally, when available, Ruinart wines can be bought at affordable prices.
