Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph

On the northern side of the Rhône Valley, the Saint-Joseph appellation is one of the masters of the region. On the right bank, stretching over 45 kilometres of hillsides, this AOC covers 26 communes in the Loire and Ardèche. With a subtle twist: facing steep slopes, its vines have adopted a terraced format. With a south/south-east exposure, this organisation, used since Antiquity, takes place on schist soils
Saint-Joseph wines are primarily reds. Saint-Joseph wines are an excellent example of the use of Syrah. Until recently, Syrah was the only grape variety used to make red wines. However, roussanne and marsanne are now used in a much smaller proportion in these Côtes-du-Rhône wines. These two white grape varieties also make up all the white wines in the appellation. The result is a complex, elegant Saint-Joseph, which once graced the tables of the Tsars. Today, they favour fruit aromas above all, with hints of blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by spices and pepper. If you have a bottle of Saint-Joseph, visit Vins Grands Crus, where you can sell your wine at market prices.
