Billecart-Salmon: some thirty hectares of exceptional vintages
As a Champagne producer, Billecart-Salmon was born of a marriage. In fact, it was the union of two people in 1818 that gave rise to this estate. Nicolas-François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon had their own production. Two centuries later, the House of Billecart-Salmon now has around thirty hectares of vines, almost all of which are classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru. This is reflected in legendary Champagne vintages such as the Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon (which is a rosé) and the Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart.
The bottles reveal exceptional productions, with a strong emphasis on the finesse of the bubbles. While each cuvée has its own characteristics, Billecart-Salmon champagnes nevertheless offer a fairly comprehensive range. The Brut Rosé, for example, is fruity, while the Brut Réserve is very classic. The Extra-Brut Vintage has a golden colour and a round, full attack on the palate. It leaves behind mineral notes. In short, Billecart-Salmon wines are all about finesse. The price ranges are wide, with some available for under fifty euros. It is therefore entirely possible to have one of these champagnes on your table.
