Domaine Denis Mortet Lavaux St Jacques 2015

The Domaine Denis Mortet Lavaux Saint-Jacques 2015 is a red Burgundy Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru, made from 100% Pinot Noir. This cuvée comes from the Lavaux Saint-Jacques climat, with a due-south exposure on a steep slope: stony soils, poorer at the top and more clayey at the bottom, are tempered by cool nights due to the proximity of the combe. The estate farms 1,20 hectare of vines averaging 60 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand, rigorously sorted, and vinified with partial destemming using indigenous yeasts; aging lasts 18 months in oak barrels, of which 70% are new. Jancis Robinson highlights a seductive, smooth, balanced, and remarkably long wine.
