Jacquesson
Champagne Jacquesson is located in the Marne region, in the commune of Dizy to be precise. Although the Jacquesson estate has existed since the end of the 18th century, it was only 25 years ago, when the Chiquet brothers took over the estate, that the recipe for the terroir's renown was established: a traditionalist vision based on respect for the soil and parcel-by-parcel vinification. It's not unusual for Jacquesson to sell all or part of its pressings when it's not satisfied with the results. And yet, behind this traditional face, Champagne Jacquesson is renowned for an innovative range of wines: cuvées 700. The principle is to blend two-thirds of the wine from a particular vintage.
This gives these Jacquesson white wines exemplary ageing potential. All the wines are vinified in oak foudres, with the declared aim of letting the wine breathe. Eventually, Jacquesson's 40 hectares will produce around 275,000 bottles a year. And this same terroir can boast of being located between three great estates, once again contributing to its reputation (Aÿ, Dizy and Hautvillers). The slopes here face east, south and south-west, with an exceptionally chalky soil.
