History and presentation of Domaine Bouchard père et fils .
The history of this historic estate dates back to the 18th century, when Michel Bouchard, a draper by trade, travelled from Burgundy to Flanders to sell his fabrics. Attracted by the profitability of the wine trade, he decided to enter the wine business. The acquisition of his first wine estate through the wine trade dates back to 1774. The estate was located in Volnay. He then founded the "Bouchard Père & Fils" company in 1785 with his son and grandson. In 1820, his descendant Bernard Bouchard acquired the prestigious Château de Beaune, built by King Louis XI, and installed the winery in its underground passages and bastions. These are located 10 m below ground surface over an area of 4,000 m2. This location ensures an ideal temperature and constant humidity for maturing and preserving the wines. Over the centuries, Michel Bouchard and the other members of his family have built up an immense estate extending over 130 ha along the coast. Further acquisitions were made to extend the vineyards of Volnay, including Clos Saint-Landry, Beaune Clos de la Mousse, Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Beaune vigne de grève de l'enfant Jésus, to name but a few. The boom in international trade began in the early 20th century. Since then, the hotel's Burgundy wines have been served on the tables of Michelin-starred restaurants, and on board airlines and cruise ships. However, the financial crisis of the 90s had an impact on the domaine's sales. The heirs therefore decided to sell their plots. The CEO of the Henriot group, attracted by the estate's potential, its well-established reputation and the high quality standards of its wines, bought it in 1995. In 2005, he equipped the old family business with a new, more efficient winery

Domaine Bouchard père et fils stands out for the extent of its vineyards, the diversity of its appellations and its mastery of the art of winemaking. The area planted with vines covers 130,000 ha. It produces around 60,000 bottles of wine a year. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The estate cultivates Pinot Noir on 2/3 of its surface and Chardonnay on the rest, using a "culture raisonnée" approach. The grapes are harvested by hand over a twenty-day period. The domaine's wines include some fifty appellations: Beaune, Meursault, Bourgogne, Volnay, Chevalier-Montrachet, Echézeaux, Clos-de-Vougeot, Chambertin, Montagny, Le Corton... The House offers an impressive list of Grands Crus such as Chevalier-Montrachet, Clos de Bèze, Chapelle-Chambertin, Bonnes-mares, Echézeaux... and simple regional wines. Some of these popular Grands Crus are on sale on this site
Quality wines from Domaine Bouchard père et fils.
The Bouchard family philosophy is rooted in the production of flagship wines that bring out the best in the terroirs in which they are planted. In keeping with this philosophy, while remaining attentive to market trends, each Domaine Bouchard wine is synonymous with finesse and elegance-- Domaine Bouchard Chambertin clos de Beze 2009 double-magnum: A superb 300 cl red Grand Cru. This wine surprises with an extraordinary nose, bursting with aromas and spices. On the palate, it's even more remarkable, with good density and an absolutely remarkable silky touch. The kind of wine to drink on special occasions, such as weddings, Christmas parties, house-warming parties before moving into a new house, etc
-- Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Corton 1964 : This Grand Cru, with its transparent red Pinot color, is the wine to recommend to wine lovers. Cellar aging awakens its fine, aromatic, complex nose and its absolute alliance of structure and finesse. The wine is full of nuances, with good acidity and a long, elegant finish. Enjoy on its own or with meat gratins, grilled fish, pizzas, charcuterie... A rare bottle not to be missed
-Domaine Bouchard Chevalier Montrachet 2012: a green-hued 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru blanc with a lovely, semi-intense nose of orchard fruit, lemon, flowers and a touch of wood. On the palate, it shows medium complexity, lining the palate with medium roundness, while remaining light and impressive. It finishes with tangy notes and incredible length. A very fine wine that can be kept for 10 to 15 years to reach its peak
- Domaine Bouchard Père et fils Montrachet 1990: this vintage is a light, deep and complex white Grand Cru. The wine, which has aged well, is excellent on the palate, with aromas of white pepper, wild strawberry, butter, vanilla, flowers? The palate is harmonious, fruity, rich and dense. This pretty white has a lovely honeyed finish that intensifies on the palate. A well-crafted wine that goes wonderfully with oysters, fish in sauce, cow's milk cheese, etc. A classy cuvée that can be cellared for a few more years to develop even more promising flavors
