Champagne Jacquesson Dizy Corne Bautray 2004 Magnum
The 2004 Champagne Jacquesson Dizy Corne Bautray is a white Chardonnay champagne, classified as a Grand Cru of Champagne. This single-plot cuvée comes from the lieu-dit Corne Bautray in Dizy, a one-hectare parcel of Chardonnay planted in 1960 on a steep, south-west-facing upper hillside. Vinified in large oak casks (foudres) with lees battonage and complete malolactic fermentation, it was bottled unfiltered. After eight years on the lees, this vintage was disgorged in February 2013 with zero dosage.

Histoire du domaine
The Jacquesson house was founded in 1798 in Châlons-sur-Marne by Claude Jacquesson and his son Memmie. In the 19th century, it underwent significant expansion under the leadership of Adolphe Jacquesson, Memmie’s son. In 1844, Adolphe Jacquesson registered the patent for the ‘muselet’, designed to hold the cork in place in champagne bottles. He also contributed to advances in champagne-making techniques alongside Jules Guyot. Johann Joseph Krug worked as cellar master at Jacquesson before founding his own house. After a more difficult period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the house was acquired by the de Tassigny family in 1924. The Chiquet family took over Jacquesson in 1974 and relocated the business to Dizy; Jean Chiquet, followed by his sons Laurent and Jean-Hervé, ran the house for nearly fifty years. This period saw, in particular, the creation of the numbered cuvées of the 700 series. At the end of 2022, Jacquesson joined Artémis Domaines, a group owned by the Pinault and Henriot La Rouzière families. Yann Le Gall, the house’s wine director, is responsible for winemaking.
Corne Bautray
Dizy Corne Bautray is a single-parcel cuvée originating exclusively from the lieu-dit Corne Bautray in Dizy. It is crafted from Chardonnay grown at the top of a steep south-west-facing slope, on a clay soil laden with millstone pebbles resting on Campanian chalk. Jacquesson officially classifies it among its lieu-dit cuvées.
- Cuvée creation year
- 1995
- Style of the cuvée
- Single-parcel Blanc de Blancs Champagne combining elegant power, finesse, chalky tension, and precise expression of its hillside terroir.
- Position within the range
- Rare, high-end, vintage-dated lieu-dit cuvée, distinct from the numbered blends of the 700 series.
Histoire de la cuvée
The Corne Bautray parcel particularly distinguished itself during the 1995 harvest, from which Jacquesson produced an experimental cuvée. The 2000 vintage marks the first documented commercial release. The cuvée was subsequently produced only in selected harvests and features in the house's official lieu-dit archives.
