Tortochot Estate

Domaine Tortochot is a winegrowing estate in Burgundy, France, specializing in the production of high-quality red wines made mainly from Pinot Noir grapes, as well as white wines made from Chardonnay. Domaine Tortochot was founded in the 19th century, and has remained in the Tortochot family for several generations. It has followed a well-established Burgundy winemaking tradition, emphasizing respect for terroir and traditional winemaking methods. The domaine owns vineyards in various Côte de Nuits appellations, including Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. These appellations are renowned for their varied soils, composed of limestone, marl and clay, which give the grapes distinct characteristics. The main grape variety grown is Pinot Noir for red wines, and Chardonnay for white wines. The vines are carefully managed, with an emphasis on environmentally-friendly viticulture, and Domaine Tortochot's working philosophy emphasizes the constant pursuit of excellence and respect for the terroir. Harvesting is done by hand to guarantee the quality of the grapes, and vinification is carried out in the traditional way, with fermentation in wooden vats and careful maceration to extract the aromas and flavors of the grapes. Domaine Tortochot wines are then aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 24 months, depending on appellation and vintage, to develop their complexity and elegance. Domaine Tortochot wines are renowned for their finesse, elegance and ability to reflect the terroir of the Côte de Nuits. The red wines offer aromas of red and black fruits, spices, floral notes and undergrowth, with a fine tannic structure that allows them to age gracefully.
