Larmandier-Bernier
Maison Larmandier-Bernier, Champagne at its best
Maison Larmandier (Larmandier-Bernier, to be precise) is one of Champagne 's most prestigious estates. In the heart of the Côte des Blancs, this vineyard extends over a multitude of terroirs, almost all classified as Grands Crus: Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, Avize... Only the Vertus terroir is classified as a Premier Cru. On the 15 hectares where Larmandier wines are produced, production is biodynamic. As for the grape varieties, they are essentially Chardonnays, leaving only 15% for Pinot Noir. The vines are quite old, some of them (Vieilles Vignes de Cramant, in particular) being over 75 years old.
These vines have particularly deep roots, and this is what gives these wines their great complexity. The Terres de Vertus, for example, display remarkable finesse. This is the most emblematic range of Larmandier champagnes. They are one of the unblended elements, made entirely from Chardonnay. All in all, Larmandier champagnes are both digestible and gourmet. It's perfectly possible to have a bottle at the table, as prices are very affordable. Most bottles are available for a few dozen euros, although some can flirt with 200 euros.
