Domaine Ruinart: ancestral know-how

In Champagne, some vineyards stand out for their fame. Others stand out for the size of their vineyards. Ruinart is the oldest Champagne producer in the region, and the first of its kind. Founded in 1729, this vineyard, mainly (but not exclusively) made up of Chardonnay, now boasts 17 hectares of vines. A modest vineyard, therefore, but one whose quality is unquestionable. And while the parent company is based in Reims, Ruinart wines are blended in the village of Epernay, one of the greatest names in Champagne.
For although only one grape variety is present here, we are talking about blends. The Blanc de Blancs, for example, is a blend of different years, with a very large majority of Premiers Crus. It's a full-flavored Champagne, with certain vintages present to bring roundness to the whole. It's also hard to forget Ruinart's R, an example of blending with a little pinot noir and meunier. It's a complex, fruity wine with hints of brioche. Finally, when available, Ruinart can be acquired at affordable prices.
