Vosne Romanée wines enjoy a world-renowned reputation, thanks to Grand Crus such as Romanée-Conti and Grand Cru La Tache. This village appellation was established in 1936. It groups together 8 Grands crus, 15 Premiers crus and village appellations produced in the same commune of the same name. Pinot noir is the only grape variety permitted in these climates. The result is a bouquet of red and black berry fruit on a spicy background, with a perfect balance between structure, finesse, tannins and longevity. With age, the wine becomes more textured and aromatically complex. Terroir of Vosne Romanée appellation


This appellation is located in the vineyards of the Côte des Nuits, in the communes of Vosne Romanée and Flaguey-Echéazeaux, between 250 and 300 m above sea level. The village was originally named Vosne, but it wasn't until 1866 that the suffix " Romanée " was added. AOC production focuses on red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes. Today, Vosne Romanée 's vineyards cover 224 ha, 27 ha of which are devoted to the Grands Crus. Despite their small surface area, these Grands Crus are among the most expensive in the world. The terroir consists mainly of limestone mixed with clayey marl, with soil depths ranging from about 10 cm to 1 m. The best terroirs are located on the middle slopes of the Côte d'Or, where the Grands Crus are planted. The vineyards face east. Pinot Noir gives wines with a red color tending to garnet-black. Ripe strawberry, raspberry, blueberry or blackcurrant fruit and spices permeate the bouquet. These wines evolve with age, producing a velvety, voluptuous, racy texture and scents of candied fruit, game, fur and undergrowth.
The Vosne-Romanée appellation is one of the most prestigious in the Côte de Beaune region of the Côte-d'Or. Its red wines, made from the Pinot Noir grape, are renowned for their finesse and elegance. Clos de Vougeot is one of the most famous estates in the commune of Vosne-Romanée. -Domaine de la Romanée Conti: this 25-hectare estate, which holds the monopoly on Romanée Conti and La Tâche, is the largest owner of these Grands Crus of red wines. The origins of this estate date back to the 13th century. Depending on the vintage, the wines of this estate have a varied character, perfectly elegant, rich or fine, or marked by a tannic structure and high acidity. Romanée Conti is surely the most expensive, but if you can't afford this marvel, there are affordable Premiers Crus on the site!
-Liger Belair: the history of this estate began over 2 centuries ago. Today, it boasts an impressive portfolio of wines comprising Grands Crus, Premiers Crus and Villages. Some of these wines command astronomical prices, thanks to the quality of the terroir in which they are grown and the effort put into their vinification by the owner. His wines are marked by their aromatic palette, their strength, their unctuous texture and their surprising minerality.
-Henri Jayer: another essential name in Burgundy red wines. Henri Jayer is none other than the uncle of Emmanuel Rouget, owner of Domaine Rouget. Having passed away in 2006, the last bottles produced by this winegrower are being snapped up on the market. His production is structured around Grands Crus, Premier Crus and Villages. His Grands Crus are deep red in color, with complex aromas of citrus, rose, leather and spices on a long finish.
-Emmanuel Rouget: this estate was founded only recently, in 1985. However, in a short space of time, it has built up a solid reputation among collectors the world over. Its climats are located in Vosne Romanée, Côte-des-Nuits, Savigny-Les-Beaune and Nuits-Saint-Georges, to name but a few. Their wines offer freshness, energy, smoothness and velvety texture.
-Méo Camuzet: this renowned domaine was founded in 1920. It owns parcels of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus in Vosne Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. It produces elegant, full-flavored red wines with aromas of roses, cherries and mineral notes. The palate is well structured, with robust tannins and persistent length.
-Jean Grivot: this estate's 15 ha of vineyards are spread between Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The wines of this winemaker have scents of red berries, herbs and violets. The medium-bodied palate is rich in ripe fruit, with lively acidity and fine tannins culminating in a dynamic finish.
-Charles Noellat: this 20-hectare vineyard was bought by Lalou-Bize Leroy in 1988. At the time, it covered only 12 ha. At that time, the quality of the domaine's wines was not remarkable, but the vines planted on Romanée Saint-Vivant were exceptional. That's why you can find prestigious old vintages for sale on this site. Their high price is due to the quality of the vineyard, the brand and the rarity of the bottles, which results in enormous demand for limited quantities. These perfectly aged wines, with their admirable structure and notes of fruit, flowers, herbs and forest soil, are made from the very oldest and best vines. They have silky tannins and good acidity.
-Maison Leroy: a family heritage that has become one of the leading family names in the Burgundy wine region. Its wines are exceptional for their elegance and rarity. They are also produced in limited quantities. Take a tour of the site to choose from bottles from this illustrious domaine.
-Domaine Cathiard: 5.5 ha of vineyards in Vosne Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny. It also owns small plots in Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Clos Vougeot. The majority of the domaine's wines are accessible from a young age. They are energetic and pure, with fresh aromas and pleasant flavors. Wines with great depth and a long finish. La Romanée Saint Vivant and Vosne Romanée are the domaine's flagship wines.
-Georges Noellat: despite its small size, this estate has well-placed terroirs in Vosne Romanée and Nuits Saint Georges. His estate includes Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. Georges Noellat's style is unique: the nose offers generous, lively fruit mixed with spices. On the palate, the fruit is delicate, with good energy and a velvety texture.
