Beaucastel: exceptional wines

Like all Châteauneuf-du-Pape estates, Beaucastel is as renowned as its wines are exceptional. The Beaucastel estate is run by the Perrin family. It is one of only three estates in the Rhône Valley to vinify all 13 grape varieties represented in its appellation. While quantity is important (300,000 bottles of red wine annually, and 30,000 of white wine), so is quality. To achieve this, Château Beaucastel uses organic farming methods. The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted and vinified separately for each variety
The result is one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's finest wines. In this vineyard, which stretches over a hundred hectares on pebbly soil, the mourdèvre grape is very present. Remarkably, Roussanne is also present, which is surprising for this appellation. However, Beaucastel expresses itself admirably with this grape: for example, the Vieilles Vignes 2016 is thus incredible in its depth, and one of the best examples of roussanne in the Rhône Valley. The other flasks give pride of place to fruit and full, fleshy flavors. The price range is wide, with Beaucastel starting at 70 euros and rising to 1,400 euros.
