Denis Mortet Estate
Wines not to be missed
Compared to other Grands Crus in Burgundy, Domaine Denis Mortet is quite recent: it was founded in 1956 by Denis Mortet's father, Charles Mortet. And yet, Denis Mortet wines are true must-haves from the Gevrey-Chambertin terroir. The 2014 cuvée is proof enough, with an incredible Chambertin. It was rated 19/20 by the Revue des Vins de France. More generally, Denis Mortet wines are excellent for laying down. They have become more refined with each vintage, and have chosen to leave behind their woody flavors
The Denis Mortet terroir covers 12 hectares, all dedicated to red wine. The grape varieties are simple, and give pride of place to Burgundy's king of grapes: pinot noir. The vines also benefit from ideal sunshine on limestone and clay-limestone slopes. A total of 65,000 bottles are produced by these cellars. It's also worth noting that organic farming has long prevailed on the estate. Pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers have been excluded since 2003. More generally, Arnaud Mortet's desire today is to be closer to the techniques of his forebears. To sell your wine in the best conditions and get a quick estimate, contact Vins Grands Crus!
