Jacques Selosse

One of the great names in Champagne from the Marne region is Jacques Selosse. This estate was founded in the aftermath of the Second World War, and since then, the success of this white (Chardonnay) and red (Pinot Noir) wine has never waned. With the 7.5 hectares available to Jacques Selosse, production remains modest: 57,000 bottles a year are available. This in no way prevents the Jacques Selosse champagne range (initially focused on the Initial, a cuvée accounting for almost two-thirds of the estate's grape varieties) from producing an exceptional wine: an extra-brut bottle from 2002 has already reached the 480 euro mark. Like many producers in the Champagne region, Jacques Selosse wines are characterized by their respect for tradition. The grapes are pressed in a traditional press, and harvested by hand. The slopes of Avize, where the estate is located, are particularly chalky, but Jacques Selosse perfectly controls the acidity of his wine. The result is a sweet champagne with floral notes. It's primarily a table wine, best served decanted.

Domaine Jacques Selosse is a champagne producer located in Avize, France. Run by Anselme Selosse and his son Guillaume Selosse, they produce original, high-quality champagnes. Their champagnes are produced from grapes grown in their vineyards on the Côte Faron. The most famous vintages are Champagne Selosse Extra-Brut, Champagne Selosse millésime and Champagne Selosse Blanc de Blancs Cramant.
