Domaine Leroy: the nobility of kings' wines

Founded by François Leroy in 1868, this prestigious domaine has one of the richest histories in Burgundy. In 1942, François' grandson Henri persuaded his friends De Villaine and Jacques Chambon not to sell their share of the de Romanée Conti vineyard, which had been on sale for many years in a Paris notary's office during the crisis of the 1920s. 20 years later, in 1942, Jacques Chambon finally sold him his shares, making Maison Leroy one of the owners of the Romanée Conti estate to this day.
For over 40 years, Henri devoted himself entirely to his vineyards at Romanée Conti, and today his daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy is his successor. For a long time, from 1974 to 1992, Maison Leroy distributed the wines of Aubert de Villain's Domaine de la Romanée Conti, the most prestigious and world-renowned estate.
In 1988, Takashimaya, a famous Japanese luxury boutique owner, acquired a stake in Maison Leroy, enabling the expansion of the Leroy estates through the acquisition of ideally located vineyards, such as the Domaine de Charles Noellat in Vosne Roman&e acute;e.
Today,Domaine Leroy owns 22 hectares in some of the world's most sought-after terroirs, and Lalou Bize-Leroy continues to devote herself entirely to her passion for wine, dedicating unbounded work and rigor to the quality of winemaking.
