Domaine Remoissenet Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2023 Magnum (150cl)
The 2023 Domaine Remoissenet Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume is a white Burgundy wine produced by Remoissenet Père et Fils in the Chablis appellation. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it comes from the Fourchaume climat, classified as Premier Cru. Located on the right bank of the Serein, north of the Chablis Grands Crus, Fourchaume is associated with chalky and stony soils. This cuvée thus expresses the identity of a Chablis Premier Cru Chardonnay from a precisely identified terroir.

Histoire du domaine
Remoissenet Père et Fils was founded in Beaune in 1877 and established itself in a historic 14th-century building in the heart of the town. The company remained in the Remoissenet family until 2005. During the final decades of this period, Roland Remoissenet was at the helm. When he retired in 2005, the company, its cellars, stocks and vineyards were acquired by a group led by the American financier Edward L. Milstein. The reorganisation that followed included the appointment of Bernard Repolt as managing director and the arrival of oenologist Claudie Jobard ahead of the 2005 grape harvest. In 2008, the company reacquired plots in several Côte de Nuits appellations, including Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Charmes-Chambertin and Clos de Vougeot. Remoissenet Père et Fils now operates as both a wine estate and a wine merchant, producing wine from grapes grown on its own vineyards as well as from grapes selected from partner growers. Recent legal filings identify Edward Milstein as the managing director of Remoissenet Père et Fils SCS, of which Remoissenet Holdings Ltd is the general partner.
Fourchaume
Fourchaume is a flagship Chablis Premier Cru climat located on the right bank of the Serein river and stretching for nearly four kilometers between Vaulorent and L’Homme Mort. It spans four communes and may also designate, according to regulatory usages, wines from the associated climats Côte de Fontenay, L’Homme Mort, Vaulorent and Vaupulent. Its west to southwest orientation makes it a sunny terroir with early ripening, widely open to the Serein valley. The soils mainly consist of brown clays, generally deep, with few stones, well-supplied with water and well-draining.

- Origin of the vineyard name
- Uncertain origin: the name could evoke a lime kiln, a fork in the sense of a crossroads, or the contraction of "fourches à hommes" in reference to a gallows.

Histoire de la parcelle
Fourchaume belongs to the officially recognized climats of the AOC Chablis that can accompany the designation "premier cru". The specifications also enshrine its status as a principal climat: in accordance with customs, the name Fourchaume may be given to wines coming from the other climats in its group, namely Côte de Fontenay, L’Homme Mort, Vaulorent and Vaupulent.
