Histoire du domaine
The Jacquesson house was founded in 1798 in Châlons-sur-Marne by Claude Jacquesson and his son Memmie. In the 19th century, it underwent significant expansion under the leadership of Adolphe Jacquesson, Memmie’s son. In 1844, Adolphe Jacquesson registered the patent for the ‘muselet’, designed to hold the cork in place in champagne bottles. He also contributed to advances in champagne-making techniques alongside Jules Guyot. Johann Joseph Krug worked as cellar master at Jacquesson before founding his own house. After a more difficult period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the house was acquired by the de Tassigny family in 1924. The Chiquet family took over Jacquesson in 1974 and relocated the business to Dizy; Jean Chiquet, followed by his sons Laurent and Jean-Hervé, ran the house for nearly fifty years. This period saw, in particular, the creation of the numbered cuvées of the 700 series. At the end of 2022, Jacquesson joined Artémis Domaines, a group owned by the Pinault and Henriot La Rouzière families. Yann Le Gall, the house’s wine director, is responsible for winemaking.
