Jamet Cote Brune 1998 Bottle (75cl)

The 1998 Côte-Rôtie Côte Brune from Domaine Jamet is a Rhône Valley red wine made from 100% Syrah. This cuvée is the estate's only single-vineyard selection, coming from the cadastral lieu-dit Côte-Brune on schist soils. Whole-cluster vinified with approximately twenty days of maceration, it is aged for 24 months in barrels, of which 30% are new oak. The estate presents this parcel expression as a specific interpretation of the character of Côte Brune.

Histoire du domaine

Domaine Jamet is part of the Jamet family’s wine-growing history in Ampuis, where the estate once combined vineyards and fruit orchards. Jean-Paul Jamet founded the estate at the hamlet of Le Vallin in 1975. The first harvest was bottled at the estate in 1976, following a period during which the produce was sold to wine merchants. Jean-Paul initially worked alongside his father Joseph, and later with his brother Jean-Luc. Over the years, the family built up a portfolio of plots on the slopes of Côte-Rôtie and expanded their range to include wines from Condrieu and the Côtes-du-Rhône. In 2013, the two brothers went their separate ways and Jean-Luc set up his own estate. Domaine Jamet has since remained under the management of Jean-Paul and his wife Corinne. Loïc Jamet has gradually become involved in the work in the cellar and the vineyard; in particular, he has been producing the Condrieu Vernillon since 2015 with his father’s support. Fanny and Loïc now carry on the family business alongside their parents.
