Bisquit Dubouche

Founded in Jarnac in 1819, Bisquit & Dubouché is a historic cognac house now part of Campari Group. Its identity is notably based on a double distillation method characterized by a later cut of the heart of the run, followed by blending work led by cellar master Patrick Léger. The house is located at Château Bisquit & Dubouché in Cognac.

Histoire du domaine

Alexandre Bisquit, born in Jarnac in 1799 into a family of distillers active since 1700, founded his own cognac house in 1819. The house was among the first to commercialize its cognac in bottles, starting in 1830. In 1846, Adrien Dubouché joined the company after his marriage to Ermance Bisquit, daughter of the founder; a businessman, painter, ceramicist, and future major art patron in Limoges, he lastingly associated his name with that of the Bisquit family. Remaining family-owned for nearly a hundred and fifty years, the house passed under the control of Ricard in 1966, and then belonged to Pernod Ricard. In 2009, Pernod Ricard sold the Bisquit brand and its stocks to the South African group Distell for 31 million euros. That same year, the brand established itself at the château overlooking the town of Cognac, a building constructed at the end of the 19th century and renovated in 2012. On January 31, 2018, Campari Group finalized the acquisition of Bisquit Dubouché et Cie from Distell for 52.7 million euros, through Société des Produits Marnier Lapostolle S.A.; the acquired company was renamed Marnier-Lapostolle Bisquit SASU in September 2018. Campari Group then proceeded with a revamp of the house's identity in 2020. Patrick Léger is currently presented by the house as the cellar master responsible for blending and the continuity of the Bisquit & Dubouché style.
