Histoire du domaine
Born into a family of winegrowers in Celles-sur-Ource, Cédric Bouchard initially worked in Paris as a wine merchant and sommelier. He returned to the Aube region in 2000 to set up his own production business, Roses de Jeanne. In the early days, he cultivated, in particular, the ‘Parcelle des Ursules’ plot, planted with Pinot Noir, and had just over one hectare of vines at his disposal. At the same time, his father continued to tend vines, the wines from which were initially sold under the ‘Inflorescence’ label. Over the following years, Cédric Bouchard gradually took over or incorporated some of these family plots into his business. Since 2014, the cuvées have been marketed under the single name Roses de Jeanne. The estate vinifies its wines separately by plot, grape variety and vintage, producing single-vineyard champagnes. Cédric Bouchard remains the owner-winemaker and oversees the winemaking process himself.
Le Creux Enfer
Le Creux d'Enfer is a micro-cuvée single-plot Pinot Noir marketed under the Roses de Jeanne brand. Produced since 2002, it was historically crafted as a rosé de saignée, only in vintages deemed suitable. The 2021 vintage is documented as a blanc de noirs from a plot acquired after a vineyard swap.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name comes from the tiny plot "Le Creux d'Enfer" farmed by Cédric Bouchard.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2002
- Style of the cuvée
- Single-plot, single-vintage Pinot Noir Champagne, seeking a precise and vinous expression of the site. Historically a rosé de saignée, it is documented as a blanc de noirs starting from the 2021 vintage.
- Position within the range
- Extremely rare single-plot micro-cuvée, historically presented as the estate's most confidential Champagne.
Histoire de la cuvée
The cuvée was produced for the first time in 2002 from a few rows of Pinot Noir. Long known as an extremely rare rosé de saignée, with a production of a few hundred bottles, it underwent a documented evolution with the 2021 vintage, crafted as a blanc de noirs following a vineyard swap.
