From a great family of winegrowers established in Burgundy since the early 19th century, Charles Noellat can be considered the doyen associated with his domaine name.
Grandfather of Odile, who brought her vines to the Hudelot-Noellat domaine in 1978 when she married Alain, Charles Noellat was one of the first to cultivate the Romanée Saint Vivant parcel just below Romanée Conti . Domaine Charles Noëllat is a magnificent estate of just ten hectares, and an anthology of Burgundy's finest appellations. With a terroir composed of exceptional Vosne Romanée soils, this estate is extremely sought-after, so much so that half of it was acquired by Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1988, then co-manager of the prestigious Domaine de la Romanée Conti .
Now legitimately owned by the Leroy family, Domaine Charles Noellat wines are produced on very small acreages and are an integral part of the legend of rare Burgundy wines.
