Cognac
It's important to note that Cognac is not a wine, but rather a type of brandy. Cognac is a grape brandy specific to the Cognac region of France. Produced from white grape varieties such as Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche, Cognac undergoes a double distillation process and is then aged in oak barrels.
The main Cognac classifications are defined by age, ranging from the very young "VS" (Very Special) to the oldest "XO" (Extra Old). Complex aromas of dried fruit, vanilla and nuts often characterize this eau-de-vie. Despite not being a wine, Cognac remains a prestigious beverage appreciated the world over.
