Histoire du domaine

The estate was founded in Vosne-Romanée in 1858, following the union of the Arnoux and Salbreux winegrowing families. It subsequently took the name Domaine Robert Arnoux when Robert Arnoux took over the estate in 1957 following the death of his father, Charles Arnoux. Robert Arnoux developed the estate’s in-house bottling operations from the late 1950s and early 1960s onwards. Following his death in February 1995, his daughter Florence Arnoux and her husband Pascal Lachaux continued to run the estate. The estate took the name Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux from the 2007 vintage onwards. Charles Lachaux joined the family business in 2011 and has been in charge of winemaking since the 2012 vintage. Under his leadership, the estate has adopted practices including biodynamics, eco-grazing, goblet pruning, higher trellising and the cessation of leaf removal. Since 2012, winemaking has been carried out using whole bunches, with short vatting periods and minimal intervention. From the 2022 harvest onwards, the estate has replaced oak barrels with stoneware vessels for ageing.

Clos des Corvées Pagets

Clos des Corvées Pagets is a demarcated climat in Premeaux-Prissey, officially recognized among the Premier Cru climats of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. It corresponds to part of the cadastral lieu-dit Aux Corvées, whose other wine-growing subdivisions include Clos des Corvées and Clos Saint-Marc. The Climats de Bourgogne file lists cadastral plots 626 to 629 and an area of 1.4828 hectares. A professional wine source describes the terrain as very stony, but no exposure, altitude, or slope specific to the climat was found in the institutional sources consulted.

Vineyard commune
Premeaux-Prissey
Origin of the vineyard name
“Corvées” refers to the days of unpaid labor owed to the lord under the feudal system. “Pagets” is believed to derive from the dialectal word “Pagès”, meaning sharecropper, farmer, or small rural landowner, though the link to this clos remains hypothetical.
Soil
Very stony terrain; clay-limestone character also reported by professional sources.

Histoire de la parcelle

The historical cadastre groups Clos des Corvées Pagets and Clos des Corvées within the lieu-dit Aux Corvées. Lavalle was already distinguishing the different parts of Aux Corvées in 1855, while the current configuration and boundaries appear to have been established during the organization of the appellation in the 20th century. A recent university study confirms that the clos, measuring approximately 1.5 hectares, retains walls and access points associated with the former royal road linking Dijon to Beaune.
