Histoire du domaine
According to Château Cheval Blanc, vine-growing in the southern part of Libourne, where Quinault L’Enclos is located, dates back to the Gallo-Roman period. Until 1973, the vineyard fell within the former Sables-Saint-Émilion appellation, before being incorporated into Saint-Émilion. In 1997, Dr Alain Raynaud acquired the property, which was then owned by Henri Maleret-Mons. He undertook a renovation of the estate, including replanting and a switch to hand-harvesting. The château was then renamed Château Quinault L’Enclos. In 2008, Alain Raynaud sold the property to the owners of Château Cheval Blanc, Bernard Arnault and Albert Frère. A thorough restructuring and replanting of the vineyard began in 2009. In 2011, the wine was presented en primeur alongside Château Cheval Blanc. The estate was included in the Saint-Émilion classification as a Grand Cru Classé in 2012, but did not submit an application for the 2022 classification. Vineyard management and winemaking are overseen by the team at Château Cheval Blanc.
