Domain Arlaud Pere et Fils Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers 1er Cru 2018 Bottle (75cl)
Le Domaine Arlaud Père et Fils Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers 2018 is a Burgundy red wine from the Les Sentiers climat in Chambolle-Musigny. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, it comes from a 0.23-hectare parcel with clay-limestone soils, planted in 1966. The estate practices certified organic and biodynamic viticulture there, with horse plowing of the soils. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand; the cuvée is aged for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a proportion of new wood not exceeding 20%, and then bottled without fining or filtration.

Histoire du domaine
Domaine Arlaud traces its origins to 1942, when Renée Amiot, from Burgundy, married Joseph Arlaud, originally from Ardèche. Vines formed part of their wedding trousseau, and Joseph Arlaud gradually expanded the vineyard from 1949 onwards. In 1966, the couple acquired a historic 14th-century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges, intended for ageing the wines; it has featured on the estate’s labels ever since. Hervé Arlaud succeeded his father in 1983 and expanded the vineyard with his wife Brigitte. Their children Cyprien, Romain and Bertille subsequently joined the business, with the family working together from 2004 to 2012. A new winery, designed to operate using gravity, was built in 2003 in Morey-Saint-Denis. In 2004, the entire vineyard under cultivation at the time was converted to organic farming, and horse-drawn ploughing was introduced on some of the plots. Organic certification was obtained in 2010. Cyprien Arlaud began the transition to biodynamic farming in 2009; in 2014, the estate became the first in Morey-Saint-Denis to be certified by Biodyvin. Since 2013, Cyprien Arlaud has been solely responsible for managing the family estate and overseeing the winemaking process.
Les Sentiers
Les Sentiers is a Premier Cru climat in Chambolle-Musigny, located north of the village near the border with Morey-Saint-Denis. It forms a strip of vineyards immediately below Bonnes-Mares, from which it is mainly separated by the Route des Grands Crus. Facing south-east, it occupies a moderate slope that tends to flatten out towards the bottom. The clayey to clay-limestone soils, which are quite deep and mixed with stones, rest in a limestone sector heavily compartmentalized by faults.

Histoire de la parcelle
Les Sentiers was already individualized in 19th-century wine classifications: Jules Lavalle ranked it as a third cuvée in 1855, while the 1861 statistical map more favorably distinguished its upper section. The Chambolle-Musigny appellation was recognized on September 11, 1936. Today, Les Sentiers is among the climats officially recognized with the "Premier Cru" designation.
