Histoire du domaine
Vincent Dancer settled in 1996 at the age of 22 in the family property in Chassagne-Montrachet after studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune. He started with about 3.5 hectares of family vines; his uncle Philippe Ballot, a winemaker in Meursault, helped him with the first vintage, as the estate did not yet have its own winery. The winery was built in 1997 and then gradually expanded. From the very beginning, Vincent Dancer implemented organic farming in the vineyard, which was officially certified in 2012. His son Théo joined the estate in 2016 and took full responsibility for winemaking in 2021. Starting with the 2024 vintage, the name used evolves from Domaine Vincent Dancer to Domaine Dancer, while both Vincent and Théo Dancer remain co-managers of the legal entity. The family vineyard now covers approximately 8 hectares across several communes in the Côte de Beaune.
La Romanée (Chassagne Montrachet)
La Romanée is a climat officially recognized as a Premier Cru of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, located south of the village and upstream of the climat Les Petits Clos. It occupies an east- to southeast-facing hillside, described as steep and relatively high within the terroir. Producer sources document soils combining clay, limestone, and marl, with local fossils and varying stoniness. These indications pertain specifically to the La Romanée climat, but originate from parcels farmed by different domains and do not constitute an exhaustive pedological study of its entire boundary.

Histoire de la parcelle
The institutional source from the BIVB explains that La Romanée runs alongside an ancient road traditionally attributed to the Romans, connecting Autun to the Saône via the south of Beaune. The climat is recognized today as a complementary geographical denomination classified as Premier Cru within the AOP Chassagne-Montrachet. No further detailed historical chronology specific to the climat was found in the sources consulted.
