Histoire du domaine
The history of the estate begins at the dawn of the 20th century with Symphorien Chevillon, who farmed about 30 ares of vines in Nuits-Saint-Georges under his own name. Eugène-François Chevillon then took over the estate after the First World War and acquired several parcels that would later be classified as Premier Cru. In 1946, his two sons took over the vines before splitting their activities; the branch from which the current Domaine Robert Chevillon descends is that of Maurice Chevillon. He expanded the wine-growing heritage through new Premier Cru acquisitions while simultaneously working as a mobile distiller. Maurice and his wife Adrienne had two children in 1937, Jeannine and Robert. Robert married Christiane in 1961; their sons Denis and Bertrand were born in 1963 and 1967 respectively. Robert greatly contributed to the expansion of the estate and the development of estate bottling. In 1990, alongside Denis and Bertrand, he formed the SCEV Domaine Robert Chevillon, bringing the family vineyards together under a single structure. A parcel in Les Cailles was further acquired in 2000. Since Robert's retirement in 2003, Denis and Bertrand have jointly managed the estate and overseen the vinifications.
Aux Chaignots
Aux Chaignots is a climat officially classified as Premier Cru of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, located in the northern part of the village territory, towards Vosne-Romanée. It occupies the upper part of the slope and benefits from a documented south-east exposure. A source describing the climat as a whole indicates an altitude of 260 to 280 meters and a fairly deep soil dominated by gravel. The slope and detailed geology of the entire climat are not established with sufficient precision in the sources consulted.

- Disputed etymology: "Chaignot" is said to be a Burgundian diminutive of "Châgne", derived from the Old French "Chasne" (oak), evoking an ancient oak grove; an origin linked to iron-rich soil is also suggested.

Histoire de la parcelle
Aux Chaignots belongs to the group of climats recognized as Premier Cru within the AOC Nuits-Saint-Georges, an appellation created on September 11, 1936. Its name likely preserves the memory of ancient oaks present in this sector, but this interpretation remains debated.
