Histoire du domaine
The wines of Moulin du Cadet were awarded a gold medal at the 1867 Paris World’s Fair. The château was included amongst the Grands Crus Classés in the first Saint-Émilion classification, published in 1955. Jean-Pierre Moueix acquired the entire estate in 1989; at that time, it covered 5 hectares, 4.6 of which were under vine. Trials in organic viticulture began there in 1996. In 2002, Jean-Jacques Moueix and his son Alain obtained organic certification for the vineyard. The estate was subsequently certified as biodynamic in 2005, before producing its first harvest entirely using this method in 2008. In 2015, the Lefévère family acquired the 2.85 hectares of the vineyard situated on the limestone plateau and retained the name Château Moulin du Cadet. In 2017, the vineyard and cellars underwent a complete restructuring and renovation. The Lefévère family now owns the estate, whilst Jean-Philippe Fort oversees the winemaking and blending processes.
