Domaine des Comtes Lafon
The Comtes Lafon estate, named after the eponymous family, is now world-renowned. Covering just over 16 hectares in Burgundy , Comtes Lafon produces no fewer than 15 appellations, grouped together in 4 communes: Meursault (by far the largest vineyard), Volnay, Monthélie and Chassagne-Montrachet. A total of 60,000 bottles of Comtes Lafon wine are produced each year.
Most of the production, carried out biodynamically and aged between 18 and 22 months before bottling, is dedicated to Chardonnay. However, almost 6 hectares are reserved for Pinot Noir. For its part, the estate tends to favor late harvesting, longer ageing en masse and controlled yields. All this contributes to making it the best wine on the Côte de Beaune. Its wines are smooth, although they have become more frank and fruit-forward in more recent vintages. In fact, since 2011, the Meursaults range has included two premier crus: Les Bouchères and Porusots.
