Domain Robert Groffier Gevrey Chambertin Les Seuvrées 2020 Bottle (75cl)
The 2020 Domaine Robert Groffier Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrées is a Burgundy red wine from the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. Classified as a Village appellation, this single-parcel cuvée 'Les Seuvrées' is made exclusively from Pinot Noir. For this 2020 vintage, vinification incorporated about one third of whole clusters and aging was carried out without new oak, two technical choices that define the style of this expression of Gevrey-Chambertin.

Histoire du domaine
The Groffier family’s roots in viticulture date back to the 19th century, with Frédéric Groffier. Between the 1930s and 1950s, Jules Groffier built up a significant part of the family’s wine-growing estate in Chambolle-Musigny and in the grands crus, notably at Les Amoureuses, Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze. His son Robert Groffier, born in 1931, began working in the vineyards in 1945 and established the estate in its current form. He began bottling wine at the estate in the 1960s, whilst continuing to sell some of the grapes to wine merchants until the 1990s. Serge Groffier worked alongside his father from his teenage years and was responsible for winemaking from 1984 to 2006. Nicolas Groffier joined the estate in 2005 and has been in charge of the wines since 2007. Julie Groffier joined the estate in 2014; she now works alongside Nicolas in running this family-owned estate. The estate is based in Morey-Saint-Denis, whilst its vineyards are spread across Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin.
Les Seuvrées
Les Seuvrées is a Village-level climat located at the southern extremity of Gevrey-Chambertin, on the border with Morey-Saint-Denis, beneath the Grands Crus Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin. The site features a very gentle east-facing slope and brown clay-limestone soils, locally gravelly. On a documented part of the climat, the substrate corresponds to an outcrop of Comblanchien limestone partially covered by Bresse marls, a detail that cannot be generalized with certainty across its entire extent.
