Histoire du domaine
Château Rabaud-Promis originated from the former Rabaud estate, whose origins are generally traced back to the 17th century. The château building, situated on Rabaud Hill in Bommes, is attributed to the architect Victor Louis. The historic Rabaud estate was classified as a Premier Grand Cru de Sauternes in the 1855 classification. In 1903, part of Sigalas-Rabaud was sold to the Promis family, giving rise to Château Rabaud-Promis. After several changes of ownership during the first half of the 20th century, Raymond-Louis Lanneluc bought the property in 1950. The estate then passed to the Dejean family, who ran it for four generations. Thomas Dejean took over the management in the late 1990s. At the end of 2019, Jean Merlaut acquired the shares held by the members of the Dejean family, with the exception of Thomas Dejean, who remains a partner, retains management of the estate and holds a right of veto. Séverine Dejean is responsible for winemaking.
