Champagne Larmandier Vieilles Vignes de Levant 2015 Bottle (75cl)
The 2015 Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Vieille Vigne du Levant is a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru from Champagne, crafted exclusively from Chardonnay. This Extra Brut cuvée comes from the Bourron du Levant lieu-dit in Cramant, where south-east-facing old vines range from 60 to over 85 years of age. Originally created in 1988 under the name Vieille Vigne de Cramant, the cuvée is now named after its parcel. Its discreet dosage of 2 g/l underlines a style that is ample, rich, mineral, and very persistent.

Histoire du domaine
According to the estate’s history, the Larmandier and Bernier families have been involved in viticulture in the Côte des Blancs since 1765. In 1971, Philippe Larmandier and his wife Élisabeth Bernier, who at the time owned vineyards in Vertus, founded Champagne Larmandier-Bernier and built their cellar there. Their son Pierre joined the estate in 1988 alongside Sophie Larmandier. In 1992, Pierre Larmandier stopped using herbicides altogether and placed soil management at the heart of the vineyard’s cultivation practices. The estate has applied biodynamic principles to all its vineyards since 1999 and uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation, as well as ageing in barrels and casks. Four hectares were acquired in Vertus in 2002. A winery was built in 2010 to increase capacity for oak ageing and maturation. The estate then purchased vineyards in Avize in 2018, whilst maintaining the principle of vinifying only its own grapes. Arthur Larmandier joined his parents in 2017, followed by Georges Larmandier, who joined the estate in 2021. A second winery was built in 2025 to allow for longer ageing periods.
Vieille Vigne du Levant
Blanc de blancs champagne exclusively made from chardonnay from old vines in the lieu-dit Bourron du Levant in Cramant. This single-parcel and vintage-dated cuvée blends neither multiple terroirs nor multiple years. Its southeast exposure and deeply rooted old vines contribute to its richness and complexity.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- Initially called 'Vieille Vigne de Cramant', the cuvée was renamed after its lieu-dit 'Bourron du Levant', facing east, to avoid confusion between 'Cramant' and 'crémant'.
- Cuvée creation year
- 1988
- Style of the cuvée
- An intense and deep champagne, marked by volume, richness, minerality, power and a particularly long finish.
- Position within the range
- A singular single-parcel cuvée from Cramant, from old vines and aged for a long time before commercialization.
Histoire de la cuvée
Created in 1988 under the name 'Vieille Vigne de Cramant', this cuvée was later renamed 'Vieille Vigne du Levant'. The change recalls the lieu-dit Bourron du Levant and its eastern exposure while eliminating the frequent confusion between Cramant and crémant.
