Champagne Dom Perignon Oenotheque 1985
The 1985 Dom Pérignon Œnothèque is a vintage effervescent white champagne from Champagne, produced by Moët et Chandon. This Dom Pérignon Œnothèque cuvée, classified as a Grand Cru de Champagne, blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. True to the principles of Dom Pérignon champagnes, it expresses the harvest of a single year and relies on a blend. The house crafts its vintages through a long maturation on lees in bottle, lasting at least eight years for the Vintage range, placing time at the heart of their evolution.

Histoire du domaine
Claude Moët founded his wine merchant’s business in Épernay in 1743. His grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, subsequently developed overseas markets and contributed to the company’s international expansion. In 1816, Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles became his business partner. When Jean-Rémy Moët retired from the business in 1833, the company was passed on to his son Victor Moët-Romont and his son-in-law Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles. It then took the name Moët & Chandon. During the 19th century, the house significantly increased its shipments and commercial presence. It is now part of the LVMH group, within MHCS. Benoît Gouez has served as cellar master there since 2005.
Dom Pérignon Oenothèque
Dom Pérignon Œnothèque was a series of selected Dom Pérignon vintages, aged on the lees for a longer period and then disgorged to be marketed at an advanced stage of maturity. It existed in both white and rosé. This historical series was replaced starting in 2014 by the Plénitude program, notably P2 and P3.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- "Œnothèque" literally means "wine library" and refers to the reserve of vintages aged for a long time on the lees in the cellars of Dom Pérignon.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2000
- Style of the cuvée
- A vintage Champagne marked by prolonged aging on the lees, combining the precision and harmony typical of Dom Pérignon with greater depth, complexity, intensity, and persistence, while retaining the energy and freshness characteristic of late disgorgement.
- Position within the range
- Former prolonged maturation expression at the pinnacle of the range, replaced by the P2 and P3 Plénitudes.
Histoire de la cuvée
Created under the leadership of Cellar Master Richard Geoffroy, the Œnothèque series was launched in 2000, notably featuring the 1985 and 1973 vintages. It formalized the commercialization of small quantities of Dom Pérignon that had continued their maturation on the lees in the Maison's cellars. In 2014, the Plénitude program gradually replaced the Œnothèque denomination in order to distinguish the different stages of maturity, P2 and then P3.
