Champagne Cristal Brut Vinothèque 2004 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2004 Champagne Cristal Brut Vinothèque from Louis Roederer is a vintage white champagne from Champagne, classified as a Grand Cru. This Cristal Vinothèque cuvée blends 57% Pinot Noir and 43% Chardonnay, sourced in equal parts from the vineyards of the Rivière, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs, notably in Verzenay, Verzy, Aÿ, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant. Kept for twenty years in the house cellars, it has aged for nine years on lattes, five years on pointes, and a further six years after disgorgement. The producer describes an ample and fresh expression, marked by a chalky and saline backbone, fine effervescence, and a powdery finish.

Histoire du domaine
The company was founded in Reims in 1776 by Pierre-Joseph Dubois and his son under the name Dubois et Fils. In 1833, Louis Roederer inherited the business from his uncle, gave it his own name and began to expand its export operations. From the 1830s onwards, Hugues Krafft’s commercial efforts played a key role in establishing the house on the Russian market. In the mid-19th century, Louis Roederer also developed his own vineyard to ensure greater control over his supply of grapes. In 1852, the house moved to Boulevard Lundy in Reims, where buildings and cellars carved into the chalk were constructed. In 1876, Louis Roederer created Cristal for Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Following the untimely death of Louis Roederer II in 1880, his sister Léonie Olry-Roederer became the owner of the brand and the estates. Her son Louis-Victor, followed by her brother Léon Olry-Roederer, subsequently ran the house; on Léon’s death in 1932, his wife Camille Olry-Roederer took over the reins. Jean-Claude Rouzaud, Camille Olry-Roederer’s grandson, inherited the business in 1979 and expanded the family group. His son, Frédéric Rouzaud, has been at the helm of the house and the group since 2006. Since 2000, Louis Roederer has been applying practices to its vineyards inspired in particular by organic, biodynamic and regenerative agriculture; Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon is now the cellar master.
Cristal Vinothèque
Cristal Vinothèque is a distinct expression of Cristal shaped by prolonged bottle aging and late disgorgement. Its production spans approximately two decades, following several phases of cellar maturation. The Maison presents it as the culmination of its "time laboratory," simultaneously seeking maturity, intensity, and freshness.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name "Vinothèque" identifies an expression of Cristal kept for a very long period in the cellars of the Maison prior to its commercial release.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2017
- Style of the cuvée
- A mature, intense, and complex Champagne, retaining precise freshness and a chalky expression. The long aging aims for an accomplished texture and deep aromatic evolution without sacrificing the characteristic energy of Cristal.
- Position within the range
- A rare and long-aged expression of Cristal, positioned at the very pinnacle of the Louis Roederer range.
Histoire de la cuvée
The project originated from experiments dedicated to the prolonged aging of Cristal. The first commercialized edition was Cristal Vinothèque 1995, launched in 2017 after approximately twenty years of maturation in the Louis Roederer cellars. The Maison subsequently pursued this collection with other vintages and with a Cristal Rosé Vinothèque variation.
