Agrapart et Fils
Champagne Agrapart et Fils, now known as Champagne Pascal Agrapart, is a family-run estate run by a ‘récoltant-manipulant’ based in Avize, on the Côte des Blancs. Its 12-hectare vineyard is mainly planted with Chardonnay in the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oiry and Oger, with viticultural practices centred on soil management and on-estate winemaking.

Histoire du domaine
The estate was founded in Avize in 1894 by Arthur Agrapart, who was already a winegrower and winemaker. Its development was hampered during the first half of the 20th century, particularly by the consequences of the First World War. In the 1950s and 1960s, Pierre Agrapart, the founder’s grandson and Pascal’s father, restored the estate to working order and gradually expanded the vineyard by purchasing plots of land. Pascal Agrapart joined the estate in 1980 and took over its management in the mid-1980s. From the late 1980s onwards, he shifted the vineyard management towards an approach free from synthetic herbicides and pesticides, based in particular on ploughing and compost. At the same time, the estate developed a system of vinifying each plot separately in order to distinguish the origins of its grapes. Ambroise Agrapart, Pascal’s son, joined the estate in 2018 and now works alongside his father in the vineyard and the cellar. The estate is now listed under Ambroise Agrapart’s name by *La Revue du vin de France*, whilst the estate’s communications refer to Pascal and Ambroise Agrapart as owner-growers-winemakers.
Expérience
Expérience is a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Nature crafted without traditional dosage liqueur: the second fermentation is induced by adding grape must from the following harvest. The base wine comes from a single plot and the added must must originate from that exact same source. Produced only when two successive harvests allow it, this cuvée remains extremely confidential.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name "Expérience" refers to the experiment conducted by Pascal Agrapart to craft a champagne using solely grapes, without sugar or exogenous yeasts.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2003
- Style of the cuvée
- A very dry, vinous, and precise Champagne, centered on fruit purity, chalky tension, and the saline expression of the terroir, featuring a generally ample texture despite the absence of dosage.
- Position within the range
- Flagship, experimental, and extremely confidential cuvée in the Agrapart range.
Histoire de la cuvée
Pascal Agrapart conducted a first experiment in 2003 with must and indigenous yeasts, producing about fifty bottles intended for family and friends. After several years of trials, Expérience 2007 became the first commercialized edition recognized as Champagne. The cuvée has since continued this quest for a champagne crafted with grapes as the sole raw material, apart from a limited use of sulfur noted by certain sources.
