Carruades de Lafite is the name of a line of wines produced by the famous Château Lafite Rothschild, a prestigious wine estate located in the Bordeaux region of France. Carruades de Lafite is considered to be the 'second wine' of Château Lafite Rothschild, meaning that it is made from grapes from the same vineyards as the château's main wine, but from selections of younger grapes or less prestigious vineyard plots. Carruades de Lafite wines are mainly red wines made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. They are produced with the same meticulous care as the château's main wine and are matured in French oak barrels for a variable period, usually shorter than the main wine.
