Pedres Blanques
Pedres Blanques is the estate of Rié and Hirofumi Shoji, located on the heights of Collioure, near Banyuls-sur-Mer. Its 3.5 hectares of vines, mainly planted with Grenache, occupy steep schist and granite hillsides between 250 and 300 meters of altitude. The couple conducts the vinifications themselves, based on whole bunches, native yeasts, and limited handling.

Histoire du domaine
Rié and Hirofumi Shoji, both originally from Japan, met in 2011 in Beaune, where they studied winemaking and obtained a BPREA. Hirofumi then worked for several years with Frédéric Cossard at Domaine de Chassorney, while Rié pursued an oenologist technician diploma at the Institut universitaire de la vigne et du vin and notably gained experience with Frédéric Mugnier and Dominique Le Guen. After Hirofumi's first stay with Alain Castex in Banyuls in 2014, the couple, married in 2015, looked for vineyards in the region. In early 2016, Rié and Hirofumi took over 3.5 hectares belonging to a retiring winemaker at the lieu-dit Le Raimbau, at the western extremity of the Collioure appellation; the first vintage of Pedres Blanques was produced in 2017. The estate's name means "white stones" in Catalan and refers to the blocks of granite outcropping in the vineyards. The plots, dominated by Grenache and progressively complanted with several local grape varieties originating notably from massal selections of Alain Castex, are worked essentially by hand. Rié and Hirofumi together manage the vinification and aging in Banyuls-sur-Mer.
