Italy Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore Rose Coffret 2006
The Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore Rosé 2006 is an Italian sparkling rosé made via the traditional method (metodo classico), presented here under the Chianti appellation by Giulio Ferrari. Its blend unites 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. This vintage inaugurates the Rosé Riserva del Fondatore cuvée; it comes from grapes selected in the Lunelli family's mountain vineyards on the slopes surrounding Trento. Produced only in years deemed worthy of a great reserve, it has benefited from eleven years of aging on the lees.

Giulio Ferrari
Giulio Ferrari is the iconic cuvée of Ferrari Trento, a family-owned Trentino estate founded in 1902 and owned by the Lunelli family since 1952. Made from 100% Chardonnay using the traditional method, the Riserva del Fondatore historically originates from the Maso Pianizza vineyard and benefits from very long aging on the lees. Its first vintage, 1972, was only released to the market in 1980.

Histoire du domaine
Giulio Ferrari founded his estate in Trento in 1902, after discovering the traditional method in France and recognizing the potential of Trentino's high-altitude terroirs for Chardonnay. Having no direct heir, he chose Bruno Lunelli to succeed him: Bruno acquired the company in 1952, when it was producing around 9,000 bottles per year. The Lunelli family then expanded Ferrari Trento while maintaining a production exclusively dedicated to traditional-method sparkling wines from Trentino. The Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore cuvée was born from an initiative by Mauro Lunelli, the family oenologist: he secretly set aside 5,000 bottles of the 1972 vintage, crafted exclusively with Chardonnay from Maso Pianizza, and aged them for eight years in the cellar. Presented to his brothers Gino and Franco in 1980, this cuvée was then dedicated to the founder. The Collezione version extends this principle with aging periods exceeding eighteen years. Matteo Lunelli became president and CEO of Ferrari Trento in 2011. In 2023, Cyril Brun succeeded Ruben Larentis, who retired after thirty-seven years, as the estate's cellar master and technical director.
