Histoire du domaine
The company Dominique Lafon was established in 2007, and Dominique Lafon launched his personal venture under his own name in 2008, separate from the Domaine des Comtes Lafon de Meursault. The project was initially based on cultivation leases and a wine trading business in the Côte de Beaune, notably for plots in Meursault Narvaux, Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain, Volnay Les Lurets and Beaune Les Epenottes. In 2011, Dominique Lafon acquired two plots intended for white Burgundy: Les Grandes Coutures in Meursault and Les Femelottes in Puligny-Montrachet. Originally based in Meursault, the estate moved its winemaking, ageing and bottling operations to Château de Bligny in 2015. This shared facility also accommodates other small producers. The estate now cultivates around 5 hectares and retains a small proportion of wines sourced from the wine trade. The vines are cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods. Guillaume Lafon, Dominique’s son, joined the project with the 2023 vintage following training in viticulture and oenology; he is now in charge of management and winemaking. Dominique Lafon continues to work alongside him.
Champ Gain
Champ Gain is a delimited climat of Puligny-Montrachet, located at the top of the slope, above Les Folatières and close to the forest edge. It is officially recognized among the climats entitled to accompany the Puligny-Montrachet appellation with the Premier Cru designation. Descriptions dedicated to the climat indicate a south-east exposure and a clay-limestone, stony and shallow soil; another source describes ochre earth mixed with stones on a limestone bedrock.

- Origin of the vineyard name
- "Gain" is thought to be linked to "regain" (aftermath or clearing) and would designate land reclaimed from the forest; this etymology remains proposed with caution.

Histoire de la parcelle
The heritage dossier of the Climats de Bourgogne lists Champ Gain in the AC and AE cadastral sections of Puligny-Montrachet, on the 1963 cadastre. The regulatory list of Puligny-Montrachet climats authorized to benefit from the Premier Cru designation explicitly includes Champ Gain; at the appellation scale, this hierarchy of climats dates back to the list established in 1943, and the specific delimitation of the Premiers Crus was approved by the INAO on May 17 and 18, 1984.
