Domain Rene Bouvier Echezeaux 2021 Bottle (75cl)
The 2021 Domaine René Bouvier Échezeaux is a red Burgundy wine made from 100% Pinot Noir, classified as a Grand Cru and from the Échezeaux parcel in the Vosne-Romanée sector. The estate vinifies a 0.30-hectare plot located at the mouth of the Combe d’Orveau, planted with vines approximately 60 years old. The 2021 vintage, marked by frost and a very small harvest, has yielded expressive, spicy and floral reds with elegant textures and fine length. The cuvée is typically aged for about 18 months in barrels, 20% of which are new.

Histoire du domaine
Domaine René Bouvier was founded in Marsannay in 1910 by Henri Bouvier, the grandfather of Bernard Bouvier. René Bouvier, son of the founder, took over the estate in the mid-1950s and expanded it through the purchase and lease of plots, bringing its surface area to 12 hectares by 1991. Bernard Bouvier succeeded him in 1992 and continued the development of the vineyard. In 1998, he acquired the three hectares of Marsannay Le Clos in Couchey, a monopole notably renowned for its white wine, while an additional hectare joined the Clos du Roy cuvée. Starting in 2000, the estate forged partnerships with premier and grand cru producers. In 2001, he implemented a new qualitative approach based in particular on hand-harvesting in small crates, sorting, and gravity-fed vinification; that same year, two hectares were acquired in Gevrey-Chambertin, including the very old vines that originated the Racine du Temps cuvée. A new winery was built in 2006 in Gevrey-Chambertin to unite and modernize the vinification and aging operations. Formally committed to organic farming starting in 2009, the estate obtained certification for the 2013 vintage, and subsequently continued with the same philosophy without official certification from 2016 onwards. In 2019, Bernard Bouvier also took over his brother Régis's vines, located in the Côte de Nuits between Morey-Saint-Denis and Marsannay-la-Côte, bringing the total area to 30 hectares.
Échezeaux (Vosne Romanée)
Échezeaux is a Grand Cru appellation physically delimited within the Côte de Nuits, located entirely within the commune of Flagey-Echézeaux, between Clos de Vougeot and the Premiers Crus of Vosne-Romanée. It brings together eleven climats and features more diverse topography and soils than the neighboring Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru. The vineyard ranges in altitude from 230 meters to just over 300 meters, with a slope reaching 13% mid-slope. Bajocian marls, locally covered with scree, gravel, red alluvium, and yellowish marls, form a complex mosaic.

Histoire de la parcelle
The winegrowing development of Échezeaux is associated with the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux in the 12th and 13th centuries, within the same historical complex as Clos de Vougeot. The Échezeaux Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée was recognized by the decree of July 31, 1937, published on August 11, 1937.
