Histoire du domaine
Domaine Joseph Voillot was established in Volnay around 1840 by a member of the Voillot family. The family has been cultivating the vineyards there for six generations. Joseph Voillot, representing the fourth generation, managed the estate before his retirement. His son-in-law, Jean-Pierre Charlot, began working alongside him in 1982. A trained oenologist and former lecturer in Beaune, Jean-Pierre Charlot took over the running of the estate in 1994 and introduced on-site winemaking for the entire production. Étienne Chaix joined the estate in 2016 to ensure the family’s succession. He became manager of SCEV Domaine Joseph Voillot on 1 September 2019, taking over from Jean-Pierre Charlot. The estate is now managed by Étienne Chaix; he cultivates 8 hectares across the communes of Meursault, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune and has been HVE-certified since 2017.
Fremiets
Frémiets is a climat officially classified as a Premier Cru of the Volnay appellation, located north of the village, near the border of Pommard. It extends below the climats Clos des Ducs and Pitures, rising from the lower sector Les Angles up to the chemin des Pitures, mid-slope. Its upper section features very thin soil due to erosion, composed of clay, limestone, and decomposing marly rocks. The cadastral climat falls under section AD of Volnay and must not be confused with the distinct denomination "Frémiets - Clos de la Rougeotte".

Histoire de la parcelle
Frémiets appears in the regulatory demarcation of Volnay climats authorized to bear the Premier Cru mention. The Volnay appellation was recognized in 1937, and the boundaries of its specific Premier Cru area were notably approved by the INAO in 1984 and again in 2005. The UNESCO dossier for the Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne links Frémiets to cadastral section AD and documents its parcels on the 1957 cadastre.
