Domain Jean Marc Roulot Meursault Perrieres 2001 Magnum (150cl)
The 2001 Domaine Jean-Marc Roulot Meursault Perrières is a white Burgundy wine from the Perrières climat, classified as Premier Cru, within the Meursault appellation. Crafted from 100% Chardonnay, this is a single-plot cuvée from the estate. For this vintage, the estate applied a gentle pressing and very little batonnage, due to the fragility of the skins. A published review notes a nose of lemon and flowers, an intense palate and a long finish driven by a mineral backbone.

Histoire du domaine
The Roulot family has been based in Meursault since the late 18th century. The estate, in its modern form, developed primarily from the 1950s onwards under the leadership of Guy Roulot, born in 1929. His marriage to Geneviève Coche coincided with the expansion of the family’s wine-growing estate. Guy Roulot played a key role in promoting the separate bottling of wines from several ‘lieux-dits’ in Meursault. Following his death in 1982, the estate was temporarily managed by a succession of winemakers. His son Jean-Marc Roulot, who was then pursuing a career as an actor in Paris, finally took over the estate in January 1989. He continued to expand the vineyard and converted the vines to organic farming from 1999 onwards. The estate is now run by Jean-Marc Roulot, with Éric Bodin as cellar master and head of winemaking at his side.
Perrières
Perrières is a climat officially classified as Premier Cru of the Meursault appellation, distinct from the enclosed Clos des Perrières climat. Its regulatory boundary includes parts of the lieu-dits Les Perrières Dessus, Aux Perrières, and Les Perrières Dessous. The hillside features thin, very stony soils, locally with a steep slope, resting notably on oolitic limestones and Jurassic marls. Characteristics vary between the upper and lower sectors of the climat.
- Vineyard commune
- Meursault
- Origin of the vineyard name
- The term "Perrière" generally refers to an old quarry or land adjacent to a paved road. In Meursault, the name is consistent with the presence of an old quarry separating the Perrières-Dessus and Perrières-Dessous sectors.
- Exposure
- East to south-east depending on the documented sectors
- Slope
- Variable slope, locally steep in the middle of the hillside
- Soil
- Limestone to clay-limestone soils, thin, very stony, and locally marly
- Subsoil and geology
- Bathonian oolitic Chassagne limestone, limestone beds, and Jurassic marls
Histoire de la parcelle
The presence of an old limestone quarry has durably structured the site and explains its name. Perrières is among the climats of Meursault recognized for the "premier cru" mention, a classification officialized in 1943; its current parcel composition is specified by the AOC specifications.
