Domaine de la Tournelle Arbois Vin Paille 2003 Half Bottle (37,5cl)
The 2003 Domaine de la Tournelle Arbois Vin de Paille is a sweet Jura red wine crafted by Domaine de la Tournelle under the Arbois appellation. It brings together Chardonnay, Poulsard, and Savagnin, three emblematic grape varieties of the Jura vineyards. The designation 'vin de paille' refers to a production method using grapes dried off the vine, resting for a minimum of six weeks in accordance with the appellation's regulations. This 2003 vintage thus combines the tradition of Arbois straw wines with a blend of Jura white and red grape varieties.

Histoire du domaine
Évelyne and Pascal Clairet, both trained in oenology, created Domaine de la Tournelle in Arbois in 1991, starting with a rented plot of chardonnay. During the early years, they kept their respective professional activities, Pascal at the Chambre d'agriculture and Évelyne as a technician at the Syndicat des Côtes-du-Rhône. The estate subsequently expanded to about eight hectares. The Clairets progressively built an approach based on organic farming, indigenous yeasts, and vinifications limiting or excluding sulfur and filtration. They also experimented with the topping-up (ouillage) of savagnin as early as 1994, late-harvest on the vine (passerillage sur souche) starting in 1997, and whole-cluster carbonic maceration of ploussard as early as 2003. In 2006, they opened the Bistrot de la Tournelle in the estate's garden, along the Cuisance. Pascal Clairet passed away on May 5, 2021, at the age of 58. Évelyne Clairet has since continued their work and remains identified as the owner of the estate.
