Coudray Bizot
Located in Beaune in the Hôtel Particulier David de Beaufort, Domaine Coudray-Bizot farms a highly fragmented vineyard of approximately four hectares. Jean-Jacques Coudray-Bizot vinifies notable wines here, including Échezeaux Grand Cru En Orveaux, Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru La Croix Rameau, Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe, as well as premier crus from Gevrey-Chambertin and Puligny-Montrachet. The estate champions minimal intervention, low yields, and a measured use of inputs.

Histoire du domaine
The history of the estate is tied to the Hôtel David de Beaufort, a 17th-century Beaune residence that belonged to the Hôtel-Dieu des Hospices de Beaune from 1750 to 1792. At the end of the 18th century, the property became a wine-producing site under David de Beaufort, whose name it retained. It was purchased in 1942 by Dr. Denis Bizot, a surgeon at the Hospices de Beaune during the 1930s to 1950s and also a winemaker. In 1984, Jacques and Jacqueline Coudray-Bizot, both architects and winemakers, re-established winemaking operations there with the help of their son Jean-Jacques. A physicist by training turned winemaker, Jean-Jacques Coudray-Bizot continues this activity today alongside Stéphanie Pouzin-Coudray. The wines are aged in the estate's cellars beneath the ancient ramparts of Beaune, sourced from family parcels including Échezeaux En Orveaux, replanted in 1959, and the very old vine of Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe.
Au Bas de Combe
Au Bas de Combe is a climat of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation located at the northern extremity of the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyard area, bordering Vosne-Romanée. It lies below the Premier Cru Aux Boudots and adjoins, on the other side of the communal boundary, the Vosne Premier Cru Les Chaumes. The BIVB lists it among the Village-level lieux-dits that can complete the appellation name. Producer sources jointly describe Au Bas de Combe and Aux Barrières as resting on clay-limestone soils with a clay dominance, but this characterization is not individualized enough to be attributed with certainty to the climat alone.

Histoire de la parcelle
The climat appears on the historical map of the vineyards of Nuits established in 1861 by the Comité d’agriculture de l’arrondissement de Beaune, where Au Bas-de-Combe is placed in the second class, a historical classification without automatic regulatory equivalence with current Premiers Crus. The official nomination dossier of the Climats of the Burgundy vineyard for World Heritage identifies it in the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges, cadastral section A2. Today it remains a lieu-dit of the Nuits-Saint-Georges communal appellation, without official Premier Cru classification.
