Histoire du domaine
The producer is identified as Clos des Jacobins, in Saint-Émilion. According to the Association des Grands Crus Classés de Saint-Émilion, the Jacobins, who were settled on the outskirts of the town, used the estate’s buildings to accommodate pilgrims and the vineyard to produce wine in the 17th century. The estate is listed amongst the properties in the first Saint-Émilion classification, established in 1954. It belonged for many years to the wine merchant Cordier. In 2001, it was sold to Gérald Frydman, who called upon Hubert de Boüard to provide technical guidance and oversee the winemaking process. The Decoster family took over the property in 2004; Magali and Thibaut Decoster moved in in 2005 and began making investments, particularly in the winemaking facilities. The 8.5-hectare vineyard is situated at the foot of the hillside and remains clustered around the cellars. The estate’s recent technical data sheets indicate that it is certified organic. Hubert de Boüard et Associés is now listed as a consulting oenologist, although the sources consulted do not provide sufficiently reliable information to identify a specific individual directly responsible for day-to-day winemaking operations.
