Histoire du domaine
The origins of the Pibarnon vineyard date back to the mid-1950s, when Modesto Ramognino, a bricklayer from Piedmont, cultivated 3.5 hectares of Mourvèdre there. In December 1977, Catherine and Henri de Saint-Victor acquired the estate, which at that time comprised 16 hectares in a single block but with only 3.5 hectares planted with vines. They then undertook extensive earthworks, planting and development of the estate. The couple produced their first vintage in 1978, whilst the wine cellar was refurbished and fitted with a gravity-fed tank system. Between 1989 and 1992, the estate acquired a further 20 hectares of pine forest, fallow land and vineyards, which were gradually terraced in the amphitheatre-shaped slope facing the cellar. Éric de Saint-Victor joined his parents for the 1989 harvest, following his studies and work placements in the Bordeaux region. He took over the management of the estate in 2000. Marie Laroze joined the team in 2008 as cellar master and works on winemaking alongside Éric de Saint-Victor. The estate is now run by Éric de Saint-Victor and comprises 52 hectares of vineyards.
